Know to protect the rights of people on the autism spectrum!
Established in 2007 by the UN General Assembly, World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD), which occurs every year on April 2, draws everyone’s attention to the rights of people on the autism spectrum.
The latest data from the National Observatory, a project of the Directorate General of Health Prevention of the Ministry of Health, coordinated by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) and the Ministry of Health, say that in Italy 1 in 77 children (ages 7-9 years) falls on the autism spectrum. These data underscore the need for targeted health, educational and social policies to increase services and improve the organization of resources to support families.
On the occasion of the international day, CeDisMa presents, for Lisciani Scuola titles, “AUTISM AND INCLUSIVE SCHOOL an educational work that aims to increase the levels of participation and support the processes of inclusion of pupils with autism, through the proposal of operational tools of immediate applicability and high impact on the class group.
The work, with a preface by Luigi D’Alonzo (CeDisma director and full professor of Special Pedagogy) , is edited by Elena Zanfroni (Associate Professor of Special Pedagogy) and Roberta Sala (adjunct professor of Elements of Special Didactics and Pedagogy), has as co-authors, Sabrina Maineri, Paola Molteni, Stefania Molteni, Anna Greta Anelli, Roberta Cuzzolin and Biagio Di Liberto.
Starting from the assumption that one of the key requirements of inclusion is the active participation of pupils in classroom activities, the work proposes a rich and articulated range of operational paths related to the different subject areas, keeping firmly, as a starting point, the attention to the peculiar characteristics that distinguish the autism spectrum framework. The proposals, in fact, are calibrated both according to the different levels of functioning and, above all, in relation to the ways of feeling, perceiving, thinking, learning, getting excited and behaving of pupils with autism.
Spread over two volumes, the first presents methodological reflection tools and worksheets primarily aimed at managing emotions and critical behaviors, while the second offers worksheets related to different curricular disciplines.
Special thanks for support on this path of scientific and educational research to Prof. Carlo Petracca and Stefania Petracca of Lisciani Scuola.
